Ok, getting cheated here to. I just "dropped" a view trades and blocked the person. This is just a behavior problem, there is not much LS can do about it.

I understand about denying the trades of those weird requests (PR3, no PR to get back and such, or those where somebody just asks a link on each and every page you have). Most of the time I block those users.

Why do you think one replaces the other? Because it really doesn't. LO is a script you run on your own servers. It's a link organizer (not only for link trades). It's not only to manage your links, but you also use it to publish your links. Besides that, what happens if tomorrow Linkspun is not that...

You can only stop a trade when both links are not longer on the sites. Just talk to you trade partner and both remove the links. Then you can stop the trade (a nice red button will appear in the trade form).

Why not just put in some comments for your trade partner and setup the trade again. Several times I had mistakes made by me or my trade partners and it can always be resolved using the commenting system of Linkspun. Just recreate the trade and "drop" the one that is at fault.

Yeah, sometimes I wonder why people in fact sign up for Linkspun. Or like you said, its some sort or weird strategy.

I'm very "generous", they have 10 days to put up the link (which is also a script setting in LO). If it's not up by then I will drop the link and block the user in Linkspun.

Still, dropping trades is not always a bad thing. The idea that trades have to exist for ever is just not a valid one.

Well, limit it to 3 per site and only do real good trades. All the other "requests" you probably have to do via other ways like forums, searching Google, checking your trade partners, contact people, etc.
