Well, I wouldn't call it 'ineptitude'. It's more just an unwillingness of people to educate themselves on how to market & optimize a site, instead just wasting others' time by spamming their links over and over. Not speaking for your approach specifically Tabarnak, but I get tons of trade reques...

It's true, the vast majority of trade requests I get are from morons with crap sites who have no idea what they're doing. Linkspun can be a very handy tool, but it also makes it very easy to just spam your links to everyone and anyone - and apparently the current userbase is happy doing just that.
