Would like to introduce myself / Question regarding Anchors

Post by CarlosTheGaucho »

Hi,

This is CarlosTheGaucho,

Although I've been in and out of adult since 2003, I guess I've never been what you could call a webmaster.

Sure, I've traveled the world between 2005 and 2009, relying on a personal contact, closing a deal here and there, putting together new projects, putting together new paysites and their presentation, being in webcams, paysites, licensing content for TV. DVD's, etc.

My big passion is advertising, sales and all kinds of creative tasks, yet since I'm very much fixed on staying here in Europe at least until I finalize my late degree from International Business next summer, I'm getting down to some web work on my own, something I can pursue from my brand new office here.

Just to justify that I'd like to ask for patience as I need set my brain to the web mode yet.

I'd also like to thank VRocks, Relentless and everybody else that are sharing the wealth of info over here, it's been a good read so far.

And thanks to JDoughs for putting together and running what seems to be a very interesting place to make the right connections.

May I ask my first question -

Trying to target four blogs around the 'HD' and its niche.

What anchors make sense, are they too long?

http://www.allthoseboobs.net "HD Big Boob Blog"
http://www.bangmyboobies.net "HD Tit Fucking Blog"
http://www.fuckthosechicks.net "HD Amateurs Teens and Porn Stars"
http://www.allthosegirls.net "HD Babes Amateurs Teens"

If you have further criticism, it's appreciated.

Trying to read a lot, but it will take a bit to put together my own system yet.

Heya Carlos, good to see you on LS ;)

I usually wont allow long anchors on my sites in trades. When someone requests a 4 word anchor I deny the trade. They are too 'out of place' in blog rolls or link lists etc compared to the others being listed.

My suggestion is make a word cloud and vary the anchors by priority. From your example:
HD Big Boob Blog
HD Tit Fucking Blog
HD Amateurs Teens and Porn Stars
HD Babes Amateurs Teens

Anchors:
HD Tits
HD Big Boobs
HD Amateurs
HD Teens
HD Teen Boobs
HD Amateur Tits
Amateur Tits
Tit Fucking Videos
Teen Tit Fucking
Big Tit Fucking
etc etc etc etc

When you add dozens of links for each of those terms in your cloud all back to the same site the engines are smart enough to figure out 'this site is about amateur teens with big tits in HD tit fucking videos." Getting a few links won't do much, but dozens and dozens of links for each term all back to the same site will do you more good than 100s of links using only one anchor with no links from any other terms. If your site for example has 250 links in for 'big tits' and zero other links in for anything else... the engines will become skeptical and assume you are buying links. Vary your anchors around a common theme and you'll do better I find.

Hope that helps

Many Thanks!

I guess I got it as I was acommodating my first link trade over here earlier today, will draft a couple suitable combinations to use in linking.

If we speak about Anchor texts, what would be an example of a relevant link title?

I have those quite "descriptive" so far, almost a sentence describing what's going on on the site that's linked to.

Such as one of my current link titles with AllThoseBoobs.net

"Solo Big Boob Porn Stars and Big Tit Amateurs in HD"

Just because one person does not want a 4 word anchor does not mean that you should not use it.

this is about SEO if one guy wont accept there are others that will. Might take longer but those long tail searches are usually the better ones to have.

Also think about this.. if ALL your trades match x criteria it starts to show google that they are not natural. and google wants natural. To vary a phrase with the letter s. an extra word that matches the content anyway is ok.

I personally think you have two options when it comes to SEO.

One is to aim for 1-2 word search phrases
One is to aim for 3-5 word search phrases

The 3-5 category is classed as "long tail", meaning people are typing a more specific phrase. The disadvantage to long tail search phrases is obviously that not many people search for that term (on average, of course, some 3-4 word search phrases are very common), although those that do are getting exactly what they want.

This is a graphic that makes it all worth it:

Image

People who search for longer phrases are more likely to convert.

When someone types "porn" into Google, what do you think the conversion rate would be for a relevant advert on a blog that had some vanilla sex pictures?

When someone types "big black cocks fucking red heads" into Google, what do you think the conversion rate would be for a relevant advert on a blog that had big black cocks fucking red heads pictures?

A combination of a lot of text and multiple 'long' anchors is the way toward good conversion ratios. A combination of a small amount of text which is heavily saturated in keywords and coupled with 3-4 'short' anchors is the way toward lots of traffic.

I wrote an article a while ago about adult anchor links. I think I make a great point about the expectation of a user with their search terms their his 'trust' in the website.

That's my way of thinking, why would I compete with billions of sites for something generic when I can carve a less saturated search phrase(s) for myself, plus they'll be very accurate to what I offer.

Thanks for the share.

Absolutely true.

Also,
As for going after long tail searches, I find if you go after short tail well enough the long tail usually comes with it.

Yep, I've said similar for years now.

If you go after long tails and don't get them, you get nothing.
If you go after long tails and get them, you get long tails.
If you go after big money terms and dont get them you MAY get the long tails.
If you go after big money terms and get them, you'll get the long tails as well.

Go big, and you'll take the small with it.

I think these anchors are fine except for the third, which is rather long, so expect declines. I'd break it into HD Amateurs Teens, HD Porn Stars, and perhaps even add a 4th word. Anything 5+ isn't good.
