Using Twitter to generate backlinks

I have been able to use Twitter to generate some back links using the following software.

Essentially, I am using the Automatic Tweet Poster module of the software to send out tweets at random intervals of 5-15 minutes from 20 different twitter accounts. I use my full URL instead of a shortened URL and sites with twitter API feeds pick up my links. The real bonus is that I get a ton of traffic from twitter for free.

I've been experimenting with this too. From what I can see, Twitter listing pages have their own individual PR, so you can get some value of backlinking to your sites, but only if you use the full link URL to your sites, not snipped URLs. Correct me if I'm wrong.

That is correct - I do not do it for established sites, but it's a great tool to use if you want to quickly raise the ranking of a new site.
