Block all content www.domain.com results in Google

Post by olexisomar »

I have noticed something new in Google (or at least I’ve never seen it before) – next to the “Cached” link on a domain there’s seems to be a link displaying “Block all content www.domain.com results“. I got it in chrome can't duplicate it on safari or FireFox and I was wondering if is a chrome extension or something else cuz I ask to a friend who has chrome installed and he is not able to duplicate it.
The procedure to duplicate it is as follow
Simply click on any website in Google and click “back” in your browser within a short time period and the addition to the results for that website will be shown. This does NOT happen if you stay on the site for over a minute.

This is Kind of scary don't you think?
Any comment on this matter will be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance

If I'm not mistaken, this happened along with their "+1" feature a short while ago. Since neither feature is available in IE, and "Block" only exists on Chrome, this is a proprietary business move and goes against Google's stated values of doing what's best for the surfer.

On the other hand, +1 definitely has a positive impact on SERP. +1 my pages & I'll +1 yours!

I got lost here, doesn't google owns Chrome? If so how can they go against their own policy? You got me confused here.

Exactly my point. The BizSpeak version: They've reached the tipping point in a corporation where they're looking inward and firming up their base rather than expanding into new territory. Plain English: They've started getting greedy.

I noticed that, like at least a year ago. You can do it in Firefox as well. I like it as a surfer, because occasionally I'll come across a website that is just stupid or annoying, but pops up repeatedly in the search results and I don't want to unwittingly click on it again, so it's nice to be able to block it.

For a surfer is a good feature but what about if your competition has 1000's of fake google accounts and they start to block your site for an specific keyword? will google push your site down on SERP or not?

It's an issue of statistical purity. With +1 (and, one can only assume, Block) affecting a site's ranking, Google moves some of the ranking power from more empirical sources such as inbound link authority and keyword density over to an unscientific poll, the voting results of which are public on a peer to peer basis.

As someone on another forum mentioned, this can present a challenge for certain types of sites (e.g., adult) where users or fans may be much less likely to register a Like if they know Mom or the boss may see it as part of their peer network. And, as mentioned above, a malicious attack of Blocks could cripple an otherwise decent site.

While it may appear to be good for surfers, in reality, it is (at best) good only for surfers who don't use IE, which as I mentioned above is where Google is making a not-so-subtle stab at Microsoft. That's clearly a business-based decision that has nothing to do with surfer habits and patterns; there is no technological reason Block or +1 can't work on IE.

Personally I don't look at porn when I'm with my parents or at my non-porn job. But maybe that's just me.
