Had a trade request yesterday, nice PR2 sites to choose a backlink from, couldn't actually find a single backlink to any of them. Hmmm...

I get your point but just because they have no backlinks doesn't mean they actually have fake PR (GTPR). Google GTPR toolbar doesn't mean anything at all nowadays. There are many high PR domains with barely any incoming links to them but their GTPR is valid. You need to check some other thinks to detect fake pagerank,
http://www.seowebdirectory.co.uk/How_to ... eRank.html. Anyway you probably won't benefit from a link from a GTPR PR2 site that has no incoming links, that's why I care more about incoming links than GTPR.

If you want to check for fake PR, best way is to perform a info:sitename.tld query on google.
If the site resulted its exactly like the one you've searched for, that means that the google robots haven't been forwarded to some other site with the purpose to gain fake PR or whatever.
I suggest you do that before calling out names and pointing fingers.

There are probably those here who don't think or know how to check the credentials of the sites they are looking at trading with, and might therefore assume a PR2 site must be well linked. Buying non-porn domains with zero backlinks and quickly erecting blogs on them and offering for trade before the PR is lost isn't my idea of fair. Just thought it helpful to bring it to light.

Obvious PR non-adult domains turned to adult sites = instant deny.

I find that it is impossible to see/check how many incoming links a site has to verify the value of a trade. Google doesn't like giving backlink info away (I can see why, you could then just go and trace / copy your competitors links). Majestic seo is quite good at giving back link info but still not a guarantee.

Yeah....the yahoo backlinks checker used to give a swift (if not 100% reliable) result on all sites ... im not impressed with majestic or any of the other toolbar options ive tried so far
