Lots of idiots on here

Every time I log in here my account has a slew of trade requests from members with terrible sites that have *no* common niche with any of mine. Deny them all, but many of them seem to mass submit the trades daily across whatever niches they feel like.
Just a word of advice to anyone doing that - it's a waste of time & is not going to make you any additional money. Put your efforts towards something that's more productive than spamming your fellow webmasters...

Ah wait! I see the Block This User button, hallelujah.
Still worth considering, spamming links is a waste of time.

I totally agree. I get the same silly requests every day, time to start using that "Block this user" button.

cumfox, as1tube...
They request trades from my PR2 sites and offer the same content (under unedited basic WP-scheme) from a lot of subdomains. I've blocked all of them.

When I request trades I usually do a lot but if the user has his rules on his profile like "I don't trade with tubes" I will follow that. Some do slip through the cracks though if I'm going to fast a forget to read it before I hit the submit button but mostly I don't think I'm spamming.

Tip: Mousing over a profile username in the trade search page will popup their message.

Lets say you have active trades with somebody and later you block him. All active trades still be visible? Probably stupid question, but would like to be sure

Trades will show in your active trades and you can see the trades. You just can't see their sites in the search results and they cannot see yours.

I do not say that its not true, but it does not make much sense.
situation a) site has 5 footer links
situation b) site has 100 sidebar links
Why in hell would they devalue link on site a more than on site b just because its in the footer? In my eyes link on site b looks more spammy than link on site a.
I a) site had 100 footer links and b) site 100 sidebar links, site a could seem having more spammy links. But you have to take number of links into consideration. It can be bad JUST because its on the footer.
I mean would you rather have your link on footer with 5 other outgoing links or on sidebar with 150 other outgoing links?

lol, I really hope you are smarter than that. Spammy is spammy even if the links are before the H tag, but keep on hoping and get links from wherever you want, why do i give a crap?!...work harder to achieve the same result. Good luck

For a moment let's forget the fact that Google has indicated for years that footer links can raise red flags, especially when they link to sites of a dissimilar topic. It's an old SEO trick and one that's easily detected.
Information that appears at the bottom of a page is deemed less important than information that appears at the top. How do we know this? Because people don't start from the bottom of a page and work their way up when reading information.
Since Google has launched its Spam fighting updates I've seen an increase of absolute garbage trades, usually from webmasters wanting a link to their tube and offering a link from a spam template blog in return; Or links to their shitty template spam blogs. This is one indication that Google is winning the fight on useless results. And more power to them.

Yes, definitely thats been known for years - links that are put higher on site gets more link juice than those that are put lower on site.
But claiming that any link on footer is worse than any link on sidebar (despite number of those links) is just plain stupid.
Do you really think google people are stupid enough to think that link on footer with 3 other links is more shady/spammy than link on sidebar with 200 other links? That would be simply idiotic

Lots and lots of smart asses around here, but i guess they know the secret..and they play it cocky style, losers.
We are not talking about importance, of course its more important in the header than in the footer but avoiding and denying trades because of that is just dumb!
But i might be the out of place one, who the hell knows

I claimed neither point. Although, I tend to avoid trading with any site having a sidebar filled with links, too. Or any site with a link trade section that looks like a webmaster's keyword wishlist.
