Without causing politics about these types of sites let me just say I forsee them being a new version of tube site for photos. So as a photographer I'm wondering how I can blog them from being able to use my photos.

For pinterest I found a plugin for wordpress that stops them.

The problem now is other sites that operate like them

Honestly, I think you should reverse your thinking. Pinterest is about as harmless as it gets - as photos are generally shared individually or in small galleries ... instead of finding ways to block them, find ways to utilize them and drive traffic/sales.

Regardless of it's true or not what your saying. I run hot and cold on the idea of giving away something I paid and worked hard to create. (I'm the photographer)

As for a lot of the so called social networks. I'm a pornographer and I know I shouldn't sound moralist but I really don't want to put my business on those networks. I know it's going to cost me money bucking the trend but I'm going to play it slow, safe and conservative.


Because on the best of days I don't trust these so called "social networking" sites. I produce a lot of content outside of my country and the last thing I need is getting anal searched at an airport.

Well ... its obviously an individual choice how to go about it. We protect our copyrights too to movies and photos we produce - but specifically not on an individual photo level, as that serves as promotion and doesnt actually take away any attraction from our sites.

If 2000 users share five of our photos each on social networks, thats a lot of our content being out there for free - but its equally alot of promotion for our sites and the content will be spread in east and west, so it wont be possible to gather any kind of "site rip" style package from social shares .. further each photo only represents a fraction of what we produced that day, whilst the user "stealing and posting" it actually helps to fund the production.

You need to use Pinterest to your advantage.

If you photograph stuff, it is a perfect way to get your business known.

If you photograph porn, you have a problem. The porn versions will want to sell dating by using your photos... However, you can make deals with them as many forums that already do this have. They don't allow full sets if you will provide them with small sets to tease the surfers and banners to send them to your site.

I don't doubt anything you gentlemen are saying. To this extent I may end up changing my approach and opinion. But I'm the new guy on the block and I think it would be best if I just took things slow. It's better to tred carefully and make sure I'm on stable ground instead of risking this gets out of control. Like the old saying, slow and steady never lost a race.

Now these dating sites that buy photo sets. I'm really interested in knowing more!! Taking pictures is what I do best !!

Pinterest is a goldmine.......
