I am noticing a trend where people do this:

Site domain: amateuranaltubevideos.com

Site gets put into categories:

amateur
anal
tube
hardcore
teen
milf
porn stars
big tits

Thing is... If I wanted to trade with a tube I would have went to the tube category... now I have this guys crap muddying up my results in 6 other categories. Multiple him by 75,000 other sites that do this and the results look like shit.

Wondering if going back to 1 category per domain would be better... or limiting it to 2.


Example:

clubcatieminx.com

She is a small tits solo model teen with a web cam show.

But when searching for links I should only find her in solo models.

For small tits I should get, smalltits-blog.com.

For teens I should get 18yearsold.com sites. or nubiles.net.

For webcams I should get sites devoted to webcams only. Even if they are a blog, gaycams.in

Thoughts?

i agree, a primary and a secondary category should be enough

I tend to block those morons that jam their sites into as many categories as possible.

I'd be fine with a limit of 2.

2 categories should be enough.

I think in most of the cases 2 categories are ok. I'm having a look at my list of pagaes, and I see in few cases I use more than two:

1) MISSING CATEGORY: example SMOTHERING is not in database. I categorized it as: Ass Licking + Femdom + Fetish + Humiliation. It won't be a problem if I keep: Ass Licking + Femdom

2) SIMILAR CATEGORIES: In linkspun there is a category for groupsex, threesome, gangbangs and swingers. I only have "orgy" that cover them all. So my orgy page is categorized as: threesome (gay+straight) + groupsex (gay+straight) + swingers (gay+straight) + gangbangs (gay+straight) for a total of 8. I won't die if I keep: groupsex (gay+straight)

All the other pages have one or two. I think two is ok.

As for your other situation... I think bisexual would be plenty...

I think 2 would be enough - but there's one thing about categories that keeps "bothering" me - not just here, but everywhere I have to categorize niches: Hierarchy

There are those common niches like "fetish" (which is usually everything latex and bondage, maybe also peeing, nurse-play, legs, feet, ... or actually everything). Or "babes" which technically also includes blonde, brunette, redhead, teens, solo-girl, ... - maybe even "tits".

Not sure if it's worth to "fix" this somehow, but I thought I'll just put it on the table for discussion

You´re right - theres plenty of categories that are realistically umbrellas for plenty of other categories ...

A site about lesbian bondage for instance would at the very least fit naturally in -> lezdom, femdom, fetish, bdsm, bondage

Dunno if theres any real solution though, having some sites in several categories isnt really an issue ... its only nuisance when sites are stuffed into categories they are irrelevant to (like the "Mainstream" category being overloaded with pornsites)

yeah I wish the mainstream category could get cleaned up (wishful thinking)

I used to get so many mainstream --> porn site trade requests, I have my mainstreamers hidden now

also to address the original discussion, I agree there is category stuffing going on, and not always cats that are related

but what I'd really wish is if we could have a domain vs subdomain sort capability, sometimes I have to sift and sift thru categories to even look for domains and not just endless subdomains...

Not sure about 1 per site, some sites fit into 2 categories, for example lets say there is a site blond teens dot com - such a site would perfectly fit blond and teen categories. I think 2 is ok, but definitely no more than 3.
Although I admit I put some of my sites in 3 or 4 categories, for instance milf site - I sometimes put it into milf, mature, housewife and cougar categories as that reflect my site's topic.

But I 100% understand what you are saying about general category sites put in as many categories as possible just because that site has "a bit of everything".
