Is using word spinners for blogs any good?

Wondering if anyone have any experience with using word/article spinners to create blogs using affiliate material and if its any use.
I have yet to see a blog rank well when one is used.
They are only good if you build out a network of say 600 blogs... Then they all equal about 5 quality blogs.
