Email Confirmation Not Arriving After Sign Up.

I referred Linkspun to someone who has tried to sign up and they are messaging me saying they didn't get the confirmation email in their inbox and they also checked the spam/junk folder and nothing. How long do such emails take and can they still use the site and perform trades? Or is their account auto deleted after a certain period of time if they don't confirm their email address?
