I think I'm not the only one that hates it when you get a trade request from someone who has 200 sites and all of them are "uncategorized" This means that you have to go through heach site on by one to find a niche related to your sites instead of reorganizing the list by category, wich makes it so much easier.

When adding a site, the user will HAVE to select a category for the site

That poses issues for adding multiple urls and isn't really an easy way around it (code wise).

Really, the guys who add their sites as Uncategorized are missing the whole point. Those domains aren't available in the category list, and get very little requests.

I did think about auto categorizing urls into categories via the initial spider, but I think it would just fill up a bunch of categories with fluff url's and we'd loose some quality.

I'll see what we can do, but as far as I can tell, if I force people to categorize the domains, there would be a "Hardcore" cat with 15,000 URLS in it and empty categories elsewhere in comparison.

of course, those lazy people would pick a random category.

How about this...

Sites in "uncategorized" cannot be used to trade with, period.

Let users flag sites as wrong category, which notifies the site owner that the site in question is the wrong category. (perhaps allow a 'suggest category' within the flag).

Set a threshold of 3 or 5, where if a particular site gets flagged "wrong category" by more than 3 (or 5) different people, the site gets flipped back into 'uncategorized', and no longer appears in the trade lists.

Another option would be to change the categories containers to a free-form "tagging" system.

Then a site could be tagged multiple niches, and additional tags can be added by users (instead of having to rely on you to create new categories). Tags could also be things like "blog" "tube" "handwritten" and so-on.

Then you can filter by "Asian, Teen, Blog" and get granular, instead of going through the "Asian" category and clicking on every single site to find the blogs.
