Down economy = lots of expired domains...

It seems the tough economy is having an impact. More and more often I have trades go down because my trading parter's domain expired. Crazy... I even let go about 500 domains I had lying around because I couldn't justify keeping them for $3000... First year ever I have less domains at the end than when I started. Most years I add a few hundred to a few thousand.

Is there any chance to keep domain weight after buying expired domain?

I read somewhere that the domain loses every weight it had when you buy it once expired.
I experienced this when purchasing a PR2 expired domain. One week later it became a PR0. Still a great domain name tho.
