buying and selling domains - linkspun is not condusive

I've run into a problem with linkspun that I wanted to let other webmasters know about. The system is great, but there can be a problem in a few instances.

here's the issue:

I recently purchased several blogs. I worked them over, replaced ref codes etc etc. Went to add them to my linkspun account and could not add them because linkspun saw them as a duplicate.

Seems the person I purchased them from had some trades with them on linkspun.

In order for the seller to remove his sites from linkspun, he must first delete all active links. (i've removed all the trades from the domains) - however, because other webmasters have not pulled their links to the domains, the seller cannot delete the trades and remove the domains from his linkspun account.

I purchased these domains about two weeks ago and found this problem then. I posted in the bug section and sent jdough a couple emails.

For anyone who buys websites and uses linkspun, realize that you may never be able to use those domains on linkspun until a solution to this is found.

I think jdough must be out of town or otherwise indisposed. Hoping he comes back soon and sorts this issue out

The main issue is the other 50ish users involved. They made a deal with the other person, and now I need to 'change' that deal in our database.

It puts me in a shitty position.

I've started moving the sites, and commenting on the trades. This is the problem, moving them is easy, but the other party just dumped the links and never once commented what was going on (that i've found so far).

So basically 50 people and 100ish trades (that are error'ed now, yes) will be logging into one of their trades being altered without their knowledge.

I commented the site was sold, and owners changed, and that they should drop the links involved but like I said, it's just a sticky situation. Had the other user approached it with a little more thought, it wouldnt be such a big deal. All he really needs to do is copy/paste saying that he's sold the site and thanks, but drop trades.

Sorry for the wait, this is being moved now, may be an hour or more as like I said I need to comment on all those trades.

EDIT - Looks like the 1 domain I looked at had decent trades but the others were almost all clear, but above is the real issue with moving sites, I dont mind, but has to be approached properly so nobody gets pissed off or feels cheated.

Let me know if you cant see them.

Everything looks great now.

To be fair, I'd like to clarify that I ripped the links out once I took possession of the blogs. These sites had not been updated, each had between 1000-3000 spam comments on them and generally were in a state of disarray.

It was never disclosed during the sale that the domains had been used on LS and with only one having any significant trades, coupled with the overall state of the sites - I thought it best to do a major housecleaning on them.

I'll be changing out themes and putting them into heavy update rotation soon and I rarely turn down trades that I can make work. Certainly anyone who had a trade can expect to trade again.
