Linkspun API - input needed

I believe it would benefit many users if Linkspun had an API so users could have their own (custom) scripts that can query the API to check if links need to be placed, need to be dropped, etc.

I'm thinking along the lines of:

http://api.linkspun.com/?apiKey=[api key here]&cmd=[command here]

With the response being XML.

I would really love to hear what the Linkspun users think we need as far as commands.

Hmm...

What I would use it for myself?

What links need to be placed?

Are they on a blog? (my end)

Links on blogs get placed (my end)

Tell you the link is placed. (get result from checker)

Move to the next link. No links? done...

-----------------------------------------------------

What links have errors... Disable the trade on my end and send them a notice it has been disabled. Store the date on my end and give the trader 1 week to fix the problem. If no reply by one week, stop the trade. If a reply, mark it for needing further review by a human.

Add Link
Drop Link
Get Link List (Site Param)

It would make life SOOO much easier to integrate with backend databases.

how about working with LO so it could pass the data from linkspun to each users individual lo script. some kind of integration would be awesome. links spun can be slow at times and that would really help the time spent on link trades

How about a simple daily XML output containing fields link from and link to - very simple.

Another thought... on this subject the ability to add available pages through an API -- we add, and sometimes remove, pages from our sites quite frequently. It's an automated process and it would be great to have it also add the page to our available pages here at the same time. Often we go to create links here only to find we've not added the page yet.

Appreciate the input, this is definitely something we need to add, for all the power users.

yes, api will very usefull feature. Mostly I need get trade links feature, for example query it once per day.

Or linkspun can post to my script if changes in trades (at this moment him can post current trades links for one of my sites).

Something like

*** Postbank url : http://myurl?md5=accountmd5code
***notify if tradelist for any of your sites changes : yes.

Script posting me next information via POST

md5verification=xxxx
site=www.mysite.com
current_trade_list=listoftrades - encoded

it will enought for most cases. Add/Delete link is not important here, as it can be managed manually. But my script can update all trades lists instantly and easily.

PS : how to move sites from one account to another at linkspun?

Best Regards,
Alex

Hi,

Is the possibility of the API being added still on the cards or is this something which has been shelved?

It would be a great asset and allow integration into many different systems I can see people writing different plugins for the different platforms to help people who run multiple sites / blogs which require constant updates.

The ability to review current trades and their assets would work well.

It would allow automatic review of the trades and their status' which would allow some form of automation to suspend trades which have gone into error would be useful, it would also allow for setting trades up for once they have been confirmed.

What do you think?
