Hey guys I am just starting out running my own blogs and I was pointed over in this direction and signed up.

I have made some requests for trades but for those that run a neat quality blog that updates often within alternative niches I am all ears in exchanges.

Welcome to LS. I would highly recommend building some other sites to offer as link bait, especially if your Grindhouse site is going to be your main money making website. Even if you build out ten or more free hosted blogs with original text you will get some trades. Good luck.

My suggestion is that you don't trade with your main site for a while unless you can do some link trades with an other high quality site ofcourse. Let the site mature and build up link juice by creating a network of sites that link back to this one.
