Personally, I hate "Beer Money" webmasters. I mean, come on - you don't have $10 to buy a domain & $20/month for hosting?

I wrote a great post about this on GFY...

Maybe I should update it for today's beer money webmasters here.

Dont knock free hosts, i made my first ever sales on a thumblogger site 2 days after it went live. I wisely put the dollars into a domain and paid host, have not looked at a free host since! now i dont need beer money as i dont drink the stuff but the dollars i now make afford me the luxury of not working for a.n.other faceless corp. start small but think big :)

I know a lot of people in adult get to where they are going by bootstapping... ie, taking very little and turning it into a lot. Not really knocking free hosts totally... I know of a webmaster that is about 95% free hosts for all of his stuff. He makes a few grand a month with them. Just go to Twans directories and find the guy that submits 20 new blogs a day... That is him. He has over a thousand free hosted blogs!

I try to get him to get a dedicated and some domains and create an empire that will attract more SE traffic, but he is happy with what he has... I am in awe with what he has accomplished while using so little cash to do it.

The main theme I have seen throughout my time working as an affiliate marketer is that you just need to stay busy... If you stop working and start enjoying the cash your network will eventually begin to implode traffic wise. Surfers like fresh content. Plain and simple.

So start making the most kickass free hosted blogs ever seen and submitting them to all of the adult blog directories you can find. Then when you are here at LS, I suggest you look for other free hosted blogs to trade with. When you do ask someone with their own domain for a link keep it smart. Stick to PR 0, PR 1 and maybe PR2 if you have a lot of PR2 free hosted blogs. Don't ask one guy for 5 to 10 links... Ask 10 guys for 1... And comment that you are more than willing to offer up a stacked trade where they get 2 or 3 links from your blogs.

Money will pour in and by pour in I mean that relatively. When your affiliate income is $0 a cash infusion of $250 in a month is pretty awesome! But use that cash to grow the network. Buy some domains. Ask around for Godaddy coupons and get a .com for $4. Not sure if Yahoo still has them too, but Moniker might and you could find yourself with 10 domains for $40. Then build some blogs on those and now you can go back to your original linking partners and ask them for links with your "real" domains. Again, slow and steady. Don't bombard the same people with many requests when you can "bombard" many people with 1 and it won't feel spammy to any one of them.

Always remember to treat this like a business and not a hobby. Otherwise it won't grow into a business... It isn't 1996 anymore ;(
