Stop trade amnesty

Trade Amnesty: This is for users that have asked their trading partner to stop a trade and the partner did not respond for whatever reason. An example situation would be having a domain you know will expire and asking trading partners to cancel all trades with said domain. When they don't respond you can reply here with the trade and I will stop it 5 days after I notify your trading partners.

If you received a notice that a trade is going to be stopped your options are:

- Remove your own link on the trade and leave it alone. It will be stopped eventually.
- Remove your own link on the trade and then use the stop form on the bottom right hand side of the trade page.
- Reply here and tell me why you think it is bullshit.

* Keep in mind it is normal for people to ask for a trade to be stopped when you are not responding, haven't logged in for over a month or they have a domain they are letting go. Another reason I personally might stop a trade is because the trade is went to shit in some way. Maybe you have 600+ outbound links? Maybe you have not updated your blog since 2010? Maybe your PR3 is now a PR1 and the trade is no longer balanced?

NOTE: Please give me the entire URL so I can just click it and go to your trade!

Example: http://www.linkspun.com/trade_view.php?tradeID=908168

Hmm... might be many more than I expected per user. Tomorrow I will code something so I can just drop a list in and all of your partners will receive both a comment and an email letting them know what is going to happen.

BTW... To qualify a trade must have a comment from you dated at least a week ago in which you requested they drop the trade. Obviously if your request as months ago and they login daily it is a slam dunk and I'll probably just set it to stopped without waiting.

For now... I gotta do some of my own trades.

One more day and the links drop... I have 22 links personally that I've found. I left a message on all of mine of the situation and guess what? All of the users in question have logged in daily since leaving the info that the trades will be stopped in the system and the domains were sold months ago. Still nothing from the partners...

I swear some people are strange.

Oh tell me about it, i was getting declines because people wanted trades from blogs, which brings them many more links...instead of a few page websites.

Well, we German guys face problems like this almost every time anchors contain umlauts "ä,ü,ö,Ä,Ü,Ö". I think this is due to misconfigured html-document-encoding. If you see a chance to enable the linkchecker handling this crap, I'd really appreciate that (and I think all my German fellows, too) :)

PM me your ICQ and when I get around to working on encoding these correctly into the DB, I will hit you up for some live testing...

The problem is how the DB and PHP work together. Kind of lame actually because handling this could be done as the default by the consortium that handles this stuff with standards... but for some reason they leave it this way and we have to program in a fix for shoddy standards.

I would also appreciate some screen shots of your keyboard. Does it already have these characters on it? Do you have to ctrl, alt, etc to produce them?

ICQ can be found in my profile ;)

There are standards dealing with this crap but often mistakes are made because there are several ways to encode documents. People don't realize Windows is encoding documents in Windows-1252 while their apache is configured to charset utf-8 or ISO-8859-1. When using ISO-8859-1 all German umlauts "ä,ö,ü.Ä,Ö,Ü" are supposed to be written as html-entities like

Code: Select all

ü -> ü
Ä -> Ä
Using the original characters without entities is only working with utf-8 encoding. Obviously way too many webmasters don't know about this. Or they just don't care - at least until their sites fail in verifying links when trading here.

And yes, because umlauts are used very often in German language, our keyboards (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... eless).png) do have keys for all these umlaut-characters. No ctrl-alt-action required ;)

Sweet... how about the o with squared off corner looking thing?

I can play around with it and see how the forum is different than LS DB and make them the same.

Any news on this?

I have also a bunch of trades with umlauts in the anchor wich will appear permanently in the setup trades list and it would be very great if we find a solution to resolve the problem with umlauts :D

Awesome!!!

Thank you very much :-)

I don't realized that because for existing trades it works only if you check the links manually.

The bots run 1000's of trades a day through the checker... But there are over 100,000 active trades...

What if you got a mesaage telling you to kill all trades with then they never dropped the links? I have 55 errors, most are from 2 accounts dildosdildo and charlotte, from ednefantasys. They sent me a meesage saying they were deleting links and then they never did. Anyways I would like to end all trades with them.

Tony, that is exactly what stop trade amnesty is for.

You give me a list of trade ID's and I will check them to make sure you had a dialogue with the other trader about stopping the trade. Or that you had a monologue because for weeks, months, a year, they never responded to your request.

I especially grant amnesty if you left them a comment after the upgrade that made it so comments are now sent to their Email address and they not only didn't respond, they didn't login to see what the comment was about. In that case I just stop the trade because the other trader obviously has lost interest in trading with you.

In this trade specifically... You asked them to stop the trade back in November. His last login was... today! In this instance I will notify the trading partner that you intend to stop the trade in 3 days. If they don't respond I just stop it for you.

You need to comment to your trading partner on these trades:

to let them know you are planning to stop the trades.

All of the others were set to stopped.

That is actually a glitch in the system. It just means they haven't signed in for 30 days.
