damn..penalized by google
looks like 1 of my domains got penalized by google, and there is a big chance it's because of the hardlinks i been adding the last week or so, i guess some were "bad neighborhood"
been at the first page for a bunch of terms, and now not even at the top 500
there should be a "mass end trade" thingy for cases like this, i sent a comment to each of my trades, hopefully they'll understand.
i guess now i understand why a lot of ppl have sites they link from in exchange for a link to their "clean" site..

Re: damn..penalized by google
I wouldn't drop them yet, how long has it been? Chances of it happening that fast off a few new links is pretty low.
That usually isn't something that happens a few days/week after adding links. That would make it to easy.
If it's a link to a virus site it may happen quick, and if so it's removed almost as quickly once it's cleared up.

it's been about a week since i started, and running the "bad neighborhood link checker, looks 90% of the links were considered as "bad" by googlejdoughs wrote:I wouldn't drop them yet, how long has it been? Chances of it happening that fast off a few new links is pretty low.

A lot of those bots consider most adult sites 'bad neighborhoods'.bhunter wrote:it's been about a week since i started, and running the "bad neighborhood link checker, looks 90% of the links were considered as "bad" by googlejdoughs wrote:I wouldn't drop them yet, how long has it been? yeah i know, but it's nothing to do with the "family friendly" factor
i think it's about link density etc + the fact that i added about 40 links on my main page in a matter of a few days
i removed, going to wait and see if there is an affect

Re: damn..penalized by google
I think bHunter is right. I have been paying to little attention to the quality of the sites I'm linking to and I can see some of them suffering for that reason.
Might be a good idea to be less greedy in the future.

Get links in to 'buffer sites' you own, not to your main sites. Then link your buffer sites to your main sites. Engines won't transfer a penalty for a bad link to your buffer site on to your main site so you can keep them safe from these situations.

Exact same advice applies. Link out to others from your buffer sites, not your main sitesbhunter wrote:i think it was more of me linking to "bad links" then bad links linking to me

If you have quality sites send me some trade requests. PR means very little to me. What matters is that your sites are worth visiting, update frequently and have a good amount of content on them without too many external links. I'm always looking for new quality site trading partnersbhunter wrote:yeah, that's what i'm gonna do from now on

This is why I don't trade with people that have this in their anchor text:

In other words... they trade into bad neighborhoods... Try checking your linking partners out before trading with them. Look for quality content and that they are not just filling up pages with link trades.
Also, are they using high PR crap sites for YOUR link and then want you to link into a site with quality content from your quality content sites... In this regard they are trading with copper and expecting your gold in return. If someone isn't trading with meat and potato sites then they usually fall into this category.

As for the bad link checker on the same URL as the name implies...
I just ran it on a site and it said the bad links were plenty of content rich pages that I had where those pages don't have any links outside of my network.. haha... that tool sucks ass.

Re: damn..penalized by google
So how do we identify these "bad neighborhood" sites?
Would like to know so I can avoid linking to or being considered one of these.

Re: damn..penalized by google
I wouldnt panic - seriously I have seen clients drop off for a few days and then come back in an even better position...

I agree, nothing really happens fast when dealing with search results.isellmail wrote:I wouldnt panic - seriously I have seen clients drop off for a few days and then come back in an even better position...
Re: damn..penalized by google
I look at every site that links to me. If it looks like a link farm, I don't trade. Then I run it on this tool:
http://www.bad-neighborhood.com/text-link-tool.htm
I don't take their results to heart though, it just lets me see who's linking to them before they link to me or vice versa.
Also, Google just did an update. Some of my PRs changed and a lot of my rankings moved.

Re: damn..penalized by google
Thanks for the link, yeah with adult sites I would think we're already dealing with a negative in Google's eyes.jaxinvt wrote:http://www.bad-neighborhood.com/text-link-tool.htm
So what's more harmful? Linktrading with bad neighborhood sites or non-niche related sites (like say GF niche blog trading with a tranny tube)?
