I noticed a few people do this and it occurred to me that I should do the same. I now no longer request trades from sites that put links in a block in small fonts in the footer and yet some of my own sites weren't a whole lot better. So I decided to do something about that, and now all outbound links will be in a list with a description next to them, instead of in ugly meaningless blocks. This I'm hoping will help my sites but also obviously will benefit my link partners because their link is surrounded by content and so should appear far less "spammy".
One example is http://www.ukhardcoreporn.com/ but all my sites that had links in blocks will go over to this format in the next few days. I'm wondering about doing the same for sidebar links too.
