No TINYURL short URL domains.

Post by jdoughs »

I see a few requests from a user named something like "jsjeyn" with 6 'tinyurl' link additions.

I initially made this post to ask if we want to be able to 'let' such domains be added.

But now I'm just going to take it onto myself to say that NO, we will not be using url shortening url's.

I don't think we should have a rule that states you cannot add a domain you do not own, because I do see value in certain free sites, and subdomain hosted domains. I know many complain or have issues with thumblogger sites, BUT I think there is more then enough real webmasters who use them as a network boost, and to bring in network link power, that we would be hurting the numbers of quality traders, by not allowing them.

I have a handful myself (free hosted blogs), and some may have read my posts on making a killing of free hosted blogs back in the day, so for me it's sort of a tough call to make.

I think a good solution for this is to have a 'block domain' function that lets users block all requests from a 'domain.com', which should effectively remove it from searches, and stop trade requests from it.
