Just Ideas

Post by sexsite69 »

The coffee is fresh and the ideas are brewing, so here comes a brain dump someone might use one day.

* idea #1) "Nuclear Submarine Trade Stop" . I'm only calling it that because it's the same idea as 2 senior officers each having to turn a key in order to launch ze missiles. In this case the system would delete all links to and from both partners. This would make it quicker to get rid of mass trades. I am imagining a button on the person's profile page, along the block and report button. Instead it would say "Stop All Trades" and it would have a few verifications. Just an idea.

* idea #2) Mass trade request using multiple selection and one anchor text. In this case, a single anchor text is used for the request and multiple relevant sites can be selected in one submission. This is useful when you are requesting links from 4 or 5 sites exactly the same way. Multiple selection could also be used for mass trade stops.

* idea #3) Continued negotiation. I need to define the elements here so forgive the obvious nature of the terms, I just want to be clear. We have the Requester (person who initiates the request) and the Requestee (person who receives the initial request). Although a Requester can initiate a stacked trade, it is far less common for a trade to go through like this. Usually the Requestee will change the initial request by adding more links in his favour the to stack. The Requestee has the upper hand by being able to "Raise" (literally, and as in poker) the cost of the trade. The Requester now has only 2 options, accept or deny. I propose a 3rd options which would be to have the option to "Re-Raise" (another poker analogy) when I am the Requester and I have been sent back a modified trade. This would allow a more balanced link negotiation. I imagine a system where the trade negotiation can go back and forth multiple time until everyone is happy and pushes the "Finalize Trade" button, or however it might be implemented.

Linkspun is already a very efficient and well coded system, I mean only respect with my suggestions. If you don't use them I'll consider this a typing exercise. Hope I didn't make too many spelling mistakes!

All interesting ideas... Some easier to implement than others. I will see about making some, if not all, a reality.
