My name is Jay and I'm new to the forum. I started building websites about three months ago, and only have 6 domains/URLs (all adult, straight, mostly hardcore) to promote, but am interested in collaborating via +1 exchanges as well as possibly link trades.

I might not be the best person to answer you since I'm new as well, but I'll give it a shot. Google+ or Google Plus is Google's social media arm. If you haven't already done so, search for it and set up your own profile.

Social media popularity is said to be highly important as a determinate of search engine ranking. I don't know what the SEO experts say, but my guess is that Google ascribes greater value to popularity within the social media network it owns/controls than to popularity within other networks when ranking sites. Not only is Google a profit-minded corporation, but one would think they also have more direct and immediate access to data from Google Plus than from other social networks.

"+1s" are related to the Google+ project. They are a means by which individuals with Google accounts vote for particular URLs, and are intended to be publicly viewable within your Google+ profile. +1s are registered when someone clicks a +1 button on a website or within their browser (I have an extension for this in Chrome). Accumulated +1 totals associated with a website contribute to some extent to Google's determination of link popularity and a site's search ranking.

Hope some of this was helpful. Again, I should remind you I'm new to this too, and I apologize for anything I left out or got wrong.

1. Does anyone have any idea whether +1's accumulated within the google plus social network (e.g. at the Page for your site, or from posts containing your link) carry the same weight as +1s from your site's sharing buttons? If so, or even if not(?), I recommend establishing these G+ Pages, because mine all accrued thousands of +1s pretty quickly, just on the strength of some racy photos of girls and stuff.

2. One caveat has come to my attention recently. Google plus policy toward adult content is unclear and inconsistently applied. I've had multiple Pages associated with my sites (see the links in my sig, with their G+ boxes in footer) suspended multiple times, with the suspension always being overturned on review (presumably because I never show actual nudity or anything sexually explicit in my photos, posts, etc..). Frustrating, but overall, they seem to be accumulating large amounts of "social proof" for my sites, plus a small trickle of direct traffic.

Any thoughts?
