Well it's more or less official that I'm a failure as a webmaster. So I'm going back to being a damn good photographer.

Now the tube sites and the other types of piracy are just murderous. I'm paying girls 1/3 of what I was paying 3 years ago. And so I was thinking I could adopt some of their models to my business.

1) I make the girls advertise products and websites in the scenes. For example I start the scene with a game of strip poker and the girls in the scene constantly mention a particular website for online gambling. I'll add a coupon code at the end of the scene and every time someone uses code the girls get paid a commision. (This same model can be applied to other types of websites and products)

2) I film the scene and give each girl a copy of the video and they can then upload it to the various file lockers and get paid that way.

3) I film call girls and give them a cell phone. In the final edit of the video I scroll the cell phone number acrosss the screen and each time books time with her I get a cut.

It's just as it stands that it's getting to the point that I'm going to have to go to china to get girls that are willing to work for the wages I need them to in order to turn a reasonable proft. Something has got to give.

Why don't you just set up a Clips4Sale studio...

Unless you're a single woman or couple producing your own content... Clips4sale is not a solution. Add to this that once I put a video up on clips4sale within a month or so I start taking serious damage to traditional DVD sales. The upload monkeys kill my exclusivity when they start putting the product on tube sites, etc.

My budgets are cut to the bare minimum and the only thing I can do is continue to ask the girls to accept less money for the same work. And that just becomes pathetically insulting. As it stands I'm now filming more and more in poor nations. In fact I'm not even bothering anymore with eastern europe... My next trip is to Thailand.

And before everyone starts pointing a finger a how much money various Tube site owners are making. Let me just say that none of them are making anywhere close to what they claim. And the really big tube site owners are using them to launder money from other sources.

I got started in this business back in the days of big budget productions when we shot on actual film and when women who took the "pill" were considered sluts. Let's just say I've been around long enough to know when there's a scam. So trust me.. unless I find a mafia contact I'm going to be moving my productions out of north american. (Perhaps made in China??)

why not form a "co op" with your models and instead of paying them for the shoot offer them a % of royalties per dvd sale or whatever method you use to sell.
Assuming you can sell in volume I see no reason why this method would not work and you would still be able to shoot in your homelands.

I have always.. ALWAYS.. been in accord with giving royalties to the performers. Now I've tried it in the past and I've gotten mixed results.

From my experience to make royalties work you need to have Very Very professional performers that have a vision of how they want to shape their careers and be seen by the public. Because how much she makes not only depends on how and how well I market the product but also on how and how well the performer markets herself. In short if the performer is a class act.. we all make more money. .

Add that you need to have a strong relationship of trust between the performer and the producer in all royalty deals. Because obviously the performers want to be able to verify the actual sales data and they need to be resonably certain that figures are true. And the producer wants to be sure that are going to keep that information secret from other producers. Afterall if a producer shows an actrice the company books, he does NOT want her telling other producers all that information. (Trust me for 100$ most of today's peformers would be happy to scan the books and send them to the competition)

I think royalties would have worked back in the 70s. But that's because the people involved in the porn industry were very different. Unfortunately in the situation of the United States porn was illegal and everyone just wanted cash upfront.. So it never caught on. And in Europe the concept of royalties was just out of their paradigme.



Unfortunately the majorty of performers are either only looking for a quick dollar or are just screwballs. Fast money seeekers lower the value of the product and screwballs end up costing more money with the drama they create.

On that note...
I have been known to reward hardwork and intelligence. But than again I'm not a typical producer.
