removed my link and does not reply to questions, WTF?

Post by wind4me »

Ok, so one active member removed my link. I sent him message asking whats up, he ignores that. After 2 days, asked again, he ignores that again. He is logging in daily.

WTF is that?

I mean if you do not want to continue trade simply say so. Or at least answer when asked about it.
Normal people spend 5 seconds to write something like : "Hi, I would like to cancel this trade".

I think members like that should be banned.

I have over 1500 trades... I have this happen to 5 of them per month. I have another 20 per month that are let go by the webmaster (domain expired) without any heads up about it.

This equals about 1.5% of my trades. Instead of worrying too much about it I just add another 25 to 50 trades and move on.

Just remove their link and move on. If they do this more than once, block them from requesting trades from you. People do this for many reasons, of course 90% are either ignorant, scammy or careless, but you must grow some thick skin in this business (same thing in almost any other) ;)

So you do not think that people who do this (removing links without heads up) should be banned after certain number of doing this?
If this does not result ban then it could be good infrastructure for shady people - come here, set up 1000 trades, than delete all and expect few hunderd of link partners not to delete your links thus getting free links. And all good? Or is it all good as long as he does not do that too much? :D

I understand domain expired or site sold, but simply removing your link is another level of impudent.

I am talking to attila about his behavior. I also found some German fuck who had 1400 trades like this where me mass fucked them all over.

The interesting thing is that SEOMedia has just as many trades in the same status. Your link is offline and the other person's link is online.

The difference is that SEOMedia informed his trading partner for the most part. Attila just dropped the links without warning and no explanation and no response to 100's of comments asking for one.

Unfortunately it would be impossible to code something to look at all of those factors. Well... I could do it, but then that is what people that make $140,000 a year do... and this site doesn't even pay me $4,000 in a year.

Until that changes I will just have to rely on reports from users.

For the most part my ass, I have contacted EACH AND EVERY ONE via a private message asking them to remove my links, so far as you can check and see I have sent out over 1,000 private messages. I will never remove a link unless there is a dispute, error or dropped domains and even in these cases the member is PM'd letting them know that I have dropped the link. Don't try and put me among this scum! I am a fucking dick but if I drop a link they get warned ALWAYS!

Had the same strange behaviour from Attila a few times ...

But in general - if done properly I see no problems with removing a link ... there can be a variety of reasons - expired domain, new link strategy, new anchors, new interpretation of the algorithms to please, the trade having gone loopsided, site being redone etc etc ... and im fine with all of them as long as theres a comment on the trade or a private message to inform me.

I am about to up my own link-error number significantly too I think ... got a ton of ancient trades with silly anchors, abandoned site backlinks etc etc and it just needs a clean-up when time permits.

I dont particularly consider it a bad thing to do either, I send a comment - remove the link and its up to the other party to act accordingly - agreeing a trade isnt a marriage agreement, circumstances change, sites are abandoned (even if still live), knowledge grows and strategies are remade ... of course, do it politely and nicely when it has to be done ...

I've also experienced a strange behaviour from attila.

I deleted some hundred links last year but I put a short message in my sign about it and reply all the messages I've got. It was must because a lot of trade partners left their sites' PR dropped or simple were irrelevant those trades. I think I was silly in early times to accept too many trades but the link strategy was another in those times - before Penguin.
Nowaddays I send a short comment for those trade partners which I have to deny and suggest a better strategy for them. Most of them cannot reply and accept it...

No problem with removing a link IF you inform the other party about that. Like normal people do.

And some can not even spend 3 seconds to send a message :"Lets cancel the trade".
Or at least reply when asked about it.

I have spoken with Attila and he basically confirmed what I already knew to be the case.

1) He was using a beefed up version of LO that is a bit more aggressive in link checking. What it lacked though was the second check later on that says, "Oh, the link is back up. Must have been a glitch." And puts the link back up on it's own.

2) He was having other people handle his trading account. So he had no idea he had 500+ sites on the bottom end of the errors page because he himself hadn't logged into it for a few weeks.

He is going to remove the aggressive checker for the normal LO checker and ask that the aggressive one be reprogrammed to go back and recheck the links after several hours to see if it was just a hickup. He is also going to go though his errors and add them back into his LO software so they will again show up on his blogrolls.

This list does NOT mean these traders on it had the same problem as Atilla. It just means that they have $x number of trades in error where they are the ones that removed the link and the partner has not (for whatever reason). Often it is because their domain expired, they informed the other party and received no response. Now they cannot Stop the trade because it still is considered active until their partner pulls their link.
