Sure that huge amount of spammy links could make you a lot of damage, but you will not be banned in seconds. Google is not stupid. It is correct. It won't kill a site, there's not a quick and total ban but it sure can make some serious damage. That's why I said "sadisfaction guaranteed!" ...
